Screed installers

Screed installers

Screed installers are brought in during the latter stages of a construction project, or refurbishment, to transform the rough state of post-construction flooring into a level, even floor.

A screed installer can work with different types of screed, depending on the application. Liquid screeds are increasingly chosen by architects and property developers over standard sand and cement screeds.

How do screed installers benefit your project?

Screed installers benefit your project by bringing their experience of working on a variety of construction sites, for example housing developments, commercial sites, industrial buildings, retail units, airports and factories.

By levelling floors with a smooth finish through time-served techniques, screed installers provide essential finishing touches that prepare a building ready for the final floor surfaces to be applied, which could be floorboards, carpet, tiling, vinyl or other types of flooring.

Liquid floor screed - key benefits

The key benefits of liquid floor screed include:

  • Liquid screed is quick and easy to install, requiring just a single team who can cover 1000m² a day, and less equipment than traditional sand and cement screed.
  • The screed is pumped to exactly where it is required which means you only pay for what you need rather than covering the cost of excess material or a further delivery to cover a shortfall.
  • Liquid screed dries very quickly, accommodating light footfall within 24 to 48 hours of being laid.
  • Liquid screed is less likely to crack than sand and cement screeds, and it is self-levelling so doesn’t create a lumpy finish. These properties provide the smooth finish you need for your flooring.
  • Floor finishes can then be added to our cementitious liquid floor screeds have a moisture content of 2.5%CM, whereas anhydrite screeds need to have a moisture content of 0.5%CM, which can take months.

Poured insulation - key benefits

Poured insulation offers several key benefits over insulation boards:

  • Poured insulation can be installed quickly, up to around 1000m² a day, whereas laying insulation boards is labour-intensive and time consuming.
  • There are no storage concerns with poured insulation while insulation boards must be stored flat, above ground level, away from sunlight in a dry environment.
  • Poured insulation leaves no spaces or gaps whereas insulation boards often do.
  • There is zero waste from poured insulation while the use of insulation boards leaves non-recyclable waste.

Poured insulation is ultra-low in weight with a density as low as 130 kg/m³. During production and installation it creates less Co2 so is environmentally friendly, and poured insulation dries very quickly at around 1cm per day.

Screed - perfect for underfloor heating

Perfect for underfloor heating

Liquid screed is known for being the perfect solution for underfloor heating. This is because it self-compacts so doesn’t create any gaps around pipework and it can be laid as thinly as 25mm. This allows liquid screed to distribute heat evenly throughout a room and improves the heating performance and responsiveness of the underfloor heating system.

FAQs

Is it possible to screed over existing flooring?

It is determined by the type and condition of the existing flooring. If the existing flooring is in good condition, screeding can be done over it in some cases, but in others, the existing flooring must be removed first.

How eco-friendly is the poured insulation you use?

Unlike insulation boards, which produce a lot of non-recyclable waste, our poured insulation leaves no waste behind. Due to the insulation having up to 80% less cement than concrete, the installation process also generates less carbon.

Can your liquid screeding be used in damp conditions such as pathways and bathrooms?

Clockwork Screed's liquid screed is a cementitious screed rather than a calcium sulphate or anhydrite screed. Because it is not affected by wet conditions, our liquid screed can be used in any area of your property, including outside areas.
