Screed insulation

Screed insulation

Screed insulation is an alternative to laying insulation boards for residential and commercial properties. It is a thin layer of liquid material that is poured onto a subfloor. Screed insulation works exceptionally well with underfloor heating systems.

Screed insulation

Clockwork Screed are experts in poured screed insulation. We supply property developers and construction contractors throughout the North West with poured screed insulation for both domestic and commercial build projects.

The purpose of screed insulation is to provide a continuous thermal layer with no gaps. Insulation is receiving more attention while energy prices soar. It is a proactive measure for reducing household and commercial heating bills.

The poured screed insulation supplied by Clockwork Screed is energy store TLA which combines eps (expanded polystyrene) beads coated in an additive, with cement. It is non-combustible insulation that is quick to install.

Benefits of screed for underfloor heating systems

Screed has many properties and benefits that make it an ideal application for underfloor heating systems.

  • Impressive thermal conductivity as low as 0.043 W·m-1·K-1. This improves the performance of the underfloor heating system and helps contractors achieve their energy conversation goals.

  • Self-compacting properties removes the risk of bubbles or voids around the underfloor heating pipework

  • A thinly laid product but strong, which helps to improve the responsiveness of the heating system and improve the building’s environmental performance

  • Quick installation with around 1000m² applied each day

  • Up to 100m² can be applied without joints on underfloor heating systems

  • Quick drying, allowing footfall within 24 to 48 hours which allows trades back on site and therefore speeds up the completion of the project.

How do screed installers benefit your project

Poured insulation FOR DOMESTIC PROJECTS

Clockwork Screed supply poured insulation for domestic projects. Poured insulation installed in domestic properties helps homeowners to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Contractors and property developers are increasingly understanding the benefits of poured insulation for domestic projects. It saves time on the overall project, and allows for speedy application in multiple rooms. The poured insulation process requires little space as it needs just one team rather than two or three contractors to install.

Poured insulation for commercial projects

A lightweight poured insulation can be used for intermediate floors which saves weight and is a particular benefit for commercial projects on larger buildings. Its thermal and acoustic benefits further reduce the cost of structural design and meeting required acoustic levels.

Choosing poured insulation for commercial projects also reduces a company's carbon footprint because of the reduction in structural requirements and use of cement.

The process of a floor screed installation

Insulation boards take a lot of time and resources to install, they need to be stored flat above ground level away from sunlight, they leave spaces and gaps due to their lack of uniformity and there is a lot of non-recyclable waste at the end of the installation.

A floor screed installation creates no storage issues, covers all spaces without gaps and leaves zero waste which reduces costs and makes the installation more environmentally friendly.

Clockwork Screed delivers floor screed using our unique mobile screed factories. We batch-produce the exact quantity needed for the job and apply it directly to your floor. Pouring the screed provides full coverage and reduces thermal bridging which improves efficiencies while on site and during the lifespan of the building.
