Liquid screed installation

What is a liquid screed and how is it different to a traditional screed?

A liquid screed is ready-mixed and delivered to site to be pumped onto a floor where it will self-level and provide a smooth surface. A traditional screed is brought to site on a truck mixer for a contractor to shovel the screed mix onto the floor and level it using a screeding bar or polyurethane float.

The liquid screed installation process

Clockwork Screed’s exclusive mobile screed factories are used to pump the liquid screed onto the floor. The mobile factories, or plants, batch produce the amount of liquid screed that is needed ready for it to be poured onto the floor. Liquid screed removes the need for PIR (polyisocyanurate) boards which can delay the flooring installation process because of the time needed to cut and level them.

Liquid screed is also ideal for underfloor heating systems because it self-compacts which removes the risk of bubbles or voids around the pipework. Because Clockwork Screed’s cementitious liquid screed can be laid as thinly as 25mm, the functionality and responsiveness of the heating system is enhanced. This improves the overall environmental performance of the building which also reduces energy bills.

The benefits of liquid screed for your business

The benefits of liquid screed for your business are extensive.

·      Reduced installation time – a liquid screed can be installed around 10 times faster than traditional screeds.

·      Reduced drying time – fast drying liquid screeds can allow footfall within 24 to 48 hours of application.

·      The work can be completed by one team rather than requiring a second team to install and level the screed.

·      By batching only the required amount of liquid screed on site, Clockwork Screed’s mobile factories reduce waste and eliminate the need for additional deliveries.

·      Liquid screed is durable and shrinkage resistant. Clockwork Screed cementitious liquid screed has shrinkage rates of under 0.05%.

·      Floor finishes can be applied to Clockwork Screed cementitious liquid floor screeds with moisture levels at 2.5%CM. Anhydrite screeds need to get down to 0.5%CM.

·      Liquid floor screed is perfect for underfloor heating systems, helping you to heat your business premises more energy-efficiently.

·      Clockwork Screed’s liquid screed doesn’t generate laitance (surface dust) after curing which speeds up the installation process.
