Liquid floor screed Manchester

Liquid floor screed Manchester

Liquid floor screed in Manchester is commonly used in the development of new and existing buildings. A floor screed is not a structural element of a building; it requires expertise to apply screed to a sub floor to create a smooth, level surface on top of which a finishing material such as carpet or tiles can be applied.

Liquid floor screed in Manchester projects

All over Manchester, new commercial buildings and residential housing developments are under construction. Manchester’s Mayor, Andy Burnham,
has recently talked of building the ‘Canary Wharf of the north’ in the city, while Time Out named Manchester amongst the best cities in the world in 2021 and 2022.

There is a hunger for development around Manchester, and liquid screed contractors are playing their part in the city’s growth.

Clockwork Screed
are experts in liquid floor screeding installation, working on build projects of varying sizes across the city of Manchester.

Our main service is to apply floor screeds and poured insulation products to buildings throughout Manchester, as well as the rest of the UK (including surrounding counties such as Cheshire, Merseyside, and Yorkshire).

Liquid floor screed vs traditional screed

What is liquid floor screed and how does it differ to traditional floor screed?

Liquid floor screed

Liquid floor screed is a blend of cement, binders, water and sand, which is ready-mixed when delivered to site, pumped into the room and poured directly onto the sub floor. Liquid floor screed can be laid very thinly, making it ideal for underfloor heating applications.

It is self-levelling and very quick to apply.

Traditional floor screed

A traditional floor screed is a blend of sand, cement, and water. It is usually 1:3 cement to sand, and has a dry, almost powdery consistency. It is delivered to site on large tipper vehicles, shovelled onto the floor surface and levelled with a screeding bar.

Benefits of liquid floor screed

  • Because liquid screed has shorter drying times, it can be used much sooner, permitting light footfall within 24 to 48 hours.
  • The installation is also much faster due to its self-leveling properties. This means that large areas can be covered in a shorter amount of time, reducing overall installation time.
  • The self-levelling and self-impacting properties of liquid floor screed results in a smooth finish without cracks or shrinkage. No manual levelling is required.
  • Liquid floor screed is ideal for underfloor heating installations because there is no risk of bubbles or gaps around pipework.
  • It also has better thermal conductivity, which means that when used in conjunction with underfloor heating, it can transfer heat more efficiently, lowering energy costs and improving overall heating efficiency.
  • Liquid floor screeding uses less labour than traditional floor screeding.
