LIQUID SCREED VS TRADITIONAL SCREED

Clockwork Screed’s cementitious liquid screed is a self-levelling, high performance flooring screed made from sand, water and cement. At Clockwork Screed we use our unique mobile screed factories to batch the liquid screed on site to the exact quantity that is required and then pump it into the room where it is needed to create smooth, even floors. This minimises waste and means the customer doesn’t pay for any liquid screed they don’t use.

A major benefit of liquid screed is that it can be applied as thinly as 25mm whilst still maintaining its strength and durability. This makes it ideal for underfloor heating systems as liquid screed allows the heat to be evenly and cost-effectively distributed across the room. It can also withstand footfall within 48 to 72 hours, allowing other trades on site quickly.

Traditional floor screed is made with a higher ratio of sand than liquid floor screed. It is spread manually across the floor before it is compacted and levelled. It therefore requires more labour and time than self-levelling liquid floor screed. It also requires a thicker application and therefore takes much longer to dry, at around 1mm a day.

Cost of liquid screed

The speed at which liquid screed is applied and ready for a final floor finish keeps labour and wider project costs to a minimum. This makes the cost of liquid screed a significant benefit to clients and contractors. Liquid floor screed is also highly durable, making it a good long term, cost-effective choice.

Of course, the size of the room(s), and therefore the volume of liquid floor screed required, will determine the cost of liquid screed for your project. At Clockwork Screed we offer a free, no-obligation quote based on the area and depth in square meters that the screed is required for.
